Matthew Miles' mixed media series 'Next To' is about the missing son of a local Hackney Wick family. The pictures incorporate video stills, photography, collage, print and painting.Background:
Born and raised in Essex, most of my adult life has been lived in London. My artistic output spans print, drawing, painting, installation and video, as well as writing. I’m interested in personal identity – memory and fantasy and ambition – and also the widening blur between real and virtual.
Exhibitions:
May 2010 Blasfemias – Barcelona, Created installation for this group show in Barcelona. Installation incorporated suspended tent made of muslin, video projection, black rubber ball and tempera powder. Also exhibited a print diptych and digitally manipulated collage print.
December 2009 X23 – Hackney, London, Exhibited digital prints and video as part of group show.
September 2009 Sense – Istanbul, Group show, exhibited a wall of prints from video stills.
